In this story Reader question The answer Sources Reader questionI have taken a tablet for two years. My readings are now 118/76. Can I stop?
The answerNormal readings mean the treatment is working, not that the problem is gone. Stopping suddenly can push your pressure back up. Talk to your doctor, who may lower the dose slowly.
Never stop a heart or blood-pressure medicine on your own, however well you feel.
